In 2021, ROMBAT laid the foundation for two family‑type homes in Bistrița. Together with Hope and Homes for Children and other partners, we helped restore joy and hope for 20 children and young people with disabilities, who today can experience a childhood lived in safety, care, and affection.

A few days ago, we returned together with the Hope and Homes team to see how these houses have grown into true families. We spoke with the children and their caregivers and were delighted to see that the support offered four years ago has brought a real and beautiful change to their lives.

Camelia Arba, social worker at Hope and Homes for Children, shared a powerful message: “Today, the two family‑type homes we built are not just buildings – they are real homes. They are places where children wake up knowing they belong to someone, that they are loved, heard, and seen. For them, each day begins not with the cold of an institutional hallway, but with the smell of breakfast, with a voice saying ‘good morning,’ and with the certainty that they are not alone. Thanks to ROMBAT and the partners involved, there are no longer any placement centers in Bistrița‑Năsăud County. Children now live in family homes, in safety, with care and love. The fact that there is no orphanage left in Bistrița means, to me, that we have managed to give children back their childhood, their dignity, and their right to dream. And for me, that is the greatest achievement.”
